Stepping
Out In Faith
Acts 10:24-33
VS.
28 and he said to them, “You yourselves know that it is unlawful for a Jew to
associate with or to visit a Gentile; but God has shown me that I should not
call anyone profane or unclean.
Have
we ever for a moment thought about how lucky we are to be Christians? How
blessed we are to know that Jesus died for our sins? Who else can openly say,
my God died for me, my God paid for my sins? As Christians we are beyond
blessed to know that our Father in Heaven loves us so much, that He sent His
perfect Son to pay the ultimate price for us.
From
a young age we have been taught the love of God, and His teachings have been
instilled in us. We have fellowship with our brothers and sisters during Sunday
services, youth fellowship meetings, prayer meetings, etc. But how many of us
are willing to step out and spread that message to our brothers and sisters of
different faiths? How many of us would step out of our comfort zones and spread
the Word of God to people who have never heard of Him?
This passage teaches us that
regardless of one’s faith, or standing in society, we have a responsibility to
share the Word of God with others. We’ve all heard this saying before, “You may
be the only Bible some people read…You may be the only Jesus some people see.”
Jesus did not intent His words to only stay amongst us Christians born into the
faith, but to have it spread to people all over the world.
Now
that doesn’t mean the journey is going to be easy. In Mathew 10, we see Jesus
instructing the 12 by saying, “Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel…..On my
account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and
to the Gentiles. But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or
how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say, for it will not be
you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you” (Mathew 10:
6,18-20). How amazing is it to know that when we are speaking His Word, He is
speaking through us!
We
are called to share the Word of God with those who are lost, in need, or simply
haven’t heard about the love of Christ. It is our duty as sons and daughters of
Christ to spread His message. Jesus tells us that by being His followers, our
journey will not be easy. We will be ridiculed and persecuted. But in all this
our God is with us. Regardless of how much we may suffer, we know that Heaven
will rejoice knowing that we are bringing others to Christ and lost souls are
being saved.
PRAYER
Almighty
God, thank You for blessing us with Your love, grace, and mercy. Thank you for
paying the ultimate price for our sins. We pray that You enable us to boldly
step out in faith, and proclaim Your Word to a hurting world. Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
“We
draw people to Christ not by loudly discrediting what they believe, by telling
them how wrong they are and how right we are, but by showing them a light that
is so lovely that they want with all their hearts to know the source of it.”
