                             Watchman.

                         Ezekiel 33:1-9

7 So you, mortal, I have made a sentinel for the house of Israel; whenever you hear a word from my mouth, you shall give them warning from me

A title that is opposite to its role. In this portion, we are reminded that we are called to be watchmen in this world. Watchmen or the initial guardians of the people are responsible for the well being of that community. They are trustworthy, bold, attentive, and dependable. The community is able to function without fearing the enemy because of these individuals. Simply, the watchmen are essential to the communities success.

In our lives today, we have became men/women who watch. We see, observe, and acknowledge all that is going on, but we remain silent. Our call is not to just watch, but to respond to what we see. This job seems to become more and more difficult today. However, we must not be afraid! We are placed here to warn our fellow brothers and sisters of dangers they may not even know of. In fact, we are held responsible for it.

The warning here is for two parties, for the watchmen and the people. Many times, we get lost in the role of the watch men that we forget the response required from those who hear the warning. If we fail to heed this warning, we are responsible for our own downfall.

As we go on in our daily life, we must live as watchmen for the world. Let us heed the warning we have been given and keep watch for our brothers and sisters against the enemy.

PRAYER

Dear Lord, help us to be faithful watchmen for Your people and help us to heed the warning against the enemy. Amen.
