Mission as Sharing Christ

Annie Varghese

Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life. “ I John 5: 12

Have we wondered what our purpose is, why do we exist and where are we going in life? The purpose of our life is far greater than our happiness, our life and our personal fulfillment. Our relationship with Christ is far more important than our successes, wealth or knowledge. We are chosen by God for a purpose as God’s instrument to proclaim the good news. We are put on earth to make a contribution. God designed us to make a difference with our life.

One of the best ways to share our faith is to live a godly life. Non-believers often look at Christians as hypocritical because we don’t practice what we preach. Sometimes we are afraid to share our faith because we don’t know what to say, but God doesn’t always call the equipped but He equips the called. As Christians, we are called to share what God has done for us. We must proclaim the Gospel because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes.

How do others know that we are children of God? It is because we obey God’s commands and we reflect Christ characters through our behavior. We reflect good Christian morals and values through our thoughts, words, actions and deeds when we interact with others.

Mother Teresa worked the streets of Calcutta by picking up beggars, refugees, wounded people off the streets and drains and washed their wounds, bathed them, fed them and accommodated them in the Homes called “Sisters of Charity.” Mother Teresa said “spread love wherever you go, let no one ever come to you without leaving happier” Today can we use our God given resources to share Christ?

As we read in Matthew 28: 18-20 about the Great Commission-- this is a Christ centered mission. Hence, we should refocus on what our mission is –We need to see the way that Jesus would see, then we can share Christ and be part of His mission. We must be strong and courageous as God is with us wherever we go.

We must share our testimony with others about how Christ has been sufficient in our needs. As we grow deeper in our walk with Christ He will give us a passion for getting His work done in this world. Jesus came into this world to give us abundant life and through our life let the world know that we have Christ in our life.

PRAYER

Thank You God for the gift of our life. Please help us commit our lives to Your great calling and understand the purpose of being chosen and fulfill Your purpose in our lives. Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s own people, in order that you may proclaim the mighty acts of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 1Peter 2: 9
