13 Keep hold of instruction; do not let go; guard her, for she is your life.

The Book of Proverbs are the words of wisdom spoken by the wisest King ever to live, King Solomon. It is said that God gave Solomon wisdom and very great insight, and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore. He spoke 3000 proverbs and from all nations people came to listen to Solomon’s wisdom, sent by all the kings of the world, who had heard of his wisdom. (1 Kings 4:30-34)

How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver! (Prov 16:16)

Why do we need these words of wisdom? We need these words for acquiring prudence, understanding and a disciplined life. It helps us to recognize right from wrong, gives us knowledge and discretion and adds to the learnings of the wise. It helps us to make the right choices and decisions in life. Knowledge without wisdom is futile.

Prov 22:6 says “Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.”

Let us feed our younger ones with the Word of God that they may see Jesus as their guide for Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. The more we read His Word, newer insights we receive. The experience of childhood, knowledge and wisdom will have a decisive influence on their personality.

Pro 10:10 says “Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many.”

Those who heed to words of wisdom will be rewarded peaceful years of life and only the foolish will turn away from it. When we meditate upon the Word of God, the insights we receive hones our thoughts and personalities. It makes us better, wiser and mature individuals. Let us live our lives with wisdom and prudence.

PRAYER

Father God, we thank You for the insights You give us while we feed upon Your Word. Enable us to always look up to You and to gaze upon Your Word for our spiritual nourishment that we may lead our lives according to Your will and guidance. Help us to shine before others as Your ambassadors and lead others to Your way. Let the glory be Yours. Amen.
