8 Remember the sabbath day, and keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work. 10 But the seventh day is a sabbath to the Lord your God; you shall not do any work—you, your son or your daughter, ...

The Lord reveals the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments, and the books of law that follow, are meant to form a sacred community, a community rooted in right worship of God and living in justice and peace with one another. The foundation of which is knowing the God to whom we belong. Four commandments regarding our conduct before God and six commandments regarding our conduct before God and people. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy: It is a commandment regarding our conduct before God, specifically helps define a proper relationship with God, how we are to love, worship and relate to Him. It explains why and when we need to take special time to draw closer to our Creator. It is also a special sign between us and God forever, that it is Him that sanctifies us Him alone we belong to and worship. God loves us and wants us to have a personal relationship with Him.  God loves us even if we haven’t loved him.  God wants us to know Him.  We can begin our personal relationship with God by putting our faith in Jesus Christ as our Saviour and Lord. Our trust in Jesus Christ begins an everlasting personal relationship with God.

For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth: God established the pattern for the Sabbath at the time of creation. When He rested from His works on the seventh day, God made the seventh day a day of rest from all our works (Genesis 2:3). But the most important purpose of the Sabbath was to serve as a shadow of the rest we have in Jesus. We have a rest in Jesus that is ours to live in every day. The rest we enter into as Christians is something to experience every day, not just one day a week. This rest is crucial in getting our spirits rejuvenated and ultimately bring us closer to the perfect image of Christ that He envisioned us to be.

Every Christian should have a deliberate purpose to serve God and advance in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.

PRAYER

Our beloved Father, help us to live in harmony. Give us the wisdom to love one another as You love us. Be with us always and guide us to walk through Your enlightened path, in Jesus precious name we ask, Amen.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
"Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
