Festival of Unity of Communion of Churches
Jibu Abraham
Long Island MTC, NY
1. How good and pleasant it is
when God’s people live together in unity!
For the last 15 years our youth fellowship has held an annual event that truly signifies unity and communion, and we call that event praise night. Praise night brings individuals from different churches together under one accord and one mind for worship. This event is not used to bring new recruits to our church but to ground us with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. This type of unity and communion brings a true anointing in our lives.

In Psalm 133:2 David paints a
picture of the blessing of unity like precious oil running down the beard of
Aaron, down on the collar of his robe. This precious oil is an anointing
from the Holy Spirit. I believe David yearned for this anointing for his
family and amongst his tribal community. He believed a lot of issues in his
life would have been prevented if there was a sense of unity and
communion among his family and his people. When we gather together and
put aside our differences, we allow the blessing of the Holy Spirit to be
poured down on us like that precious oil. We pray for unity in every aspect of
our lives in our family , work , and in our relationship with God. In
verse 3, the commentary of the reformation study Bible states that Hebron
was a majestic mountain on the northern boundaries of Israel, known for heavy
precipitation of refreshing dew. This heavy dew signified the abundant blessing
of unity through the Holy Spirit. The best example of abundant
blessing of unity is the day of Pentecost. The Holy Spirit not only
blessed the disciples in that room but extended that blessing in abundance to
the people that were able to hear and understand the disciples prayer. Unity
and Communion brings forth revival which can bring us to a better relationship
with God.
The Nalloor library posted an article
“November 2, 2015 stating that on 8 November, 2015, Sunday: the
CSI, CNI and Mar Thoma Churches will celebrate this Sunday as the ‘”Festival of
Unity of Communion of Churches in India (CCI) CSI- CNI-MTC”‘. Though
there is diversity among these churches they gather together in communion and
worship God as one.
PRAYER
Lord we pray for unity and communion among all
believers, so Your blessings will pour on us like precious oil. Amen.
