O Lord, our Sovereign, how majestic is
your name in all the earth!
In this psalm, David confirms the creation story, that God has
created everything seen and unseen and man has been appointed ruler over all
the creation.
Our solar system consists of sun,
which is a star, and all its planets, including earth. Our solar system is part
of the Milky Way Galaxy which is estimated to have more than 400 billion
individual stars. The Milky Way Galaxy is one of more than two
trillion galaxies in the universe, according to the findings by scientists
announced recently. When we think of God’s creation we stand in awe at the
awesome power and might of our omnipotent God. God’s glory is revealed through
all His creation.
In the natural realm, man, who is
confined to the earth, cannot even think of a position better than the dust
with which he was made of. But in the supernatural phenomenon, God, through His
breath, made man “inferior only to yourself; you crowned him with glory and
honor. You appointed him ruler of everything you made; you placed him over all
creation (5 & 6), David acknowledges.
Since man was given a powerful
status, and a place in heaven, God expected man to humble himself and praise
Him and glorify Him. Hence God gets upset and angry at the disobedience of man
whose mind was taken over by the cunning Satan.
God tried many means to bring
mankind back to Him, and that was not to be. Then He selected the Jews through
Abraham as chosen people to serve His purpose and gave them His commandments
through Moses. Still, man, stuck to his disobedience. Finally, God has to send
into this world and sacrifice His only son to save the mankind, both Jews and
gentiles.
Now the situation is that
“Salvation is to be found through him (Jesus) alone; in all the world, there is
no one else God has given who can save us.” (Acts 4:12). God has
simplified the way to save the world, both Jews and gentiles: Just believe in
Jesus.
We are in the season of
commemorating annunciation and birth of Christ. Angel Gabriel told Mary about
the one she was selected to carry: ‘He will be great, and will be called the
Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give to him the throne of his
father David and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and of his
kingdom there will be no end."
And Mary’s reply should be our lifeline: "Behold,
I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.
PRAYER
O Lord, give us wisdom to know and do Your will always. Amen
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
We are serving an awesome God who is always with us to carry us through
thick and thin.
