One True God and People of other
Faith
Dr. Derry Rajan
Austin MTC, Austin.
7 Many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who do
not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh; any such person is the
deceiver and the antichrist!
Apostle John has cautioned that there are some who teach and
propagate the gospel, deviating from the truth. The Bible emphatically states
that Jesus came in flesh and he suffered and died as a man on the cross.
Truth
is exclusive and it does not change. The Bible stands the tests of verification
on historical and geographical aspects and also on the high degree of accuracy
of manuscripts. Bible is written over a period of one thousand five hundred
years by forty different authors, who have been inspired by the Holy
Spirit. Accuracy of the Biblical text has been corroborated by both
Christian and non Christian scholars alike.
Buddhism
is a non theistic religion. Hinduism is polytheistic and teaches rebirth and
"works" as a means to salvation. Islam is a monotheistic religion
which denies the Lordship of Christ. There is no religion except Christianity
that elaborates on the sins and weakness of man and how a loving God reaches
out to man to redeem him from the fallen state.
Dr.
Ravi Zacharias aptly states “My premise is that the popular aphorism that 'all
religions are fundamentally the same and only superficially different' simply
is not true. It is more correct to say that all religions are, at best,
superficially similar but fundamentally different…”.
The believers in
Jesus Christ have a good reason to base their faith in the Lord. To claim that
a person is arrogant for a religious view that is true, is beyond reason. But
that should not lead them to arrogance. We should love others and lead them to
the truth. We have reasons to disagree but should be respectful of others’
view. We need to always remember that God desires all people to be His flock
and in this we have a mission.Jesus asked “Who do you say I am”….therein, lies the key to one’s salvation.
PRAYER
Help us, O Lord
to present You through our lives in a sincere and loving way. Amen
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
"yet for us
there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist,
and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we
exist." 1 Corinthians 8:6
