Holy Ordination: A Fragrance to Christ
Ephesians 5:1-14

8 For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of light— 9 for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true.
We, as Christians, are given the responsibility to follow God’s example as His children to spread His love and the message of righteousness and truth. In order to follow God’s example, we must be pure. We cannot be sexually immoral, greedy, gossip about others, foolish or coarse talking, or have any impurities that separate us from focusing on God and all His glory. This passage describes us as dearly beloved children of God. He loves us so much that He blessed us with life and the opportunity to change the lives of people around us through our daily actions. As His children, we should give thanks to Him and be obedient to Him. The passage says: “God’s wrath comes on those who are disobedient.” (Ephesians 5:6). Through Christ, we are given the opportunity to be saved and follow His commands. Just like the theme verse says, God saved us from the darkness and evil of the world and into the light of the Lord. In order to live in this light, we must honor God. 1 Samuel 2:30 says: "Therefore the LORD God of Israel declares, 'I did indeed say that your house and the house of your father should walk before Me forever'; but now the LORD declares, 'Far be it from Me--for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me will be lightly esteemed.” In other words, when we honor God, and follow His example of love and truth, God will honor us also by showering us with blessings and helping us to overcome our day-to-day challenges. For the people that “despise” or do not  honor God for everything He has blessed them with, then our Father in Heaven will dishonor them. This is why it is important to follow His example of love and spread it to those around us through our actions and speech.

PRAYER

Heavenly Father, we pray to You that You will help us to follow Your example of love and righteousness and help us to honor You with all of our actions so that we may spread Your love to everyone one around us. Amen.

PRIESTHOOD: THE ANOINTED MINISTRY Exodus 40:12-16 Bring Aaron and his sons to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting... wash them with water. Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest (Exodus 40: 12-13). Priesthood among the people of God was a divine command and initiation. God wanted some people to be separated for the special ministry among his people. God appointed Aaron and his descendants to take up this kind of ministry among the people of God. Priests are always separated and appointed as channels that connect God with his people. All throughout the history of Israel, priests played an important role in connecting people with God and to lead and guide them in the statutes of God. But there are incidents in the Bible where the priests failed in their duties and that led the people to go away from God.
