8. O taste and see that the Lord is good; happy are
those who take refuge in him.
One of the hardest things to do
in these present times is to step back from reality and receive the blessings
of God. There are various moments in life when we decide to take problems
on ourselves, however, in the Bible, God tells us to cast all our burdens and
worries upon Him and He will take care of all our problems. We should not have
the mentality that we can overcome the difficulties without anyone’s help but
by constantly consulting God, the Spirit will lead a person in times of
difficulties.
As Christians, what
can we learn from this passage? When we look at the first four verses of Psalms
34, we can see a coherent theme, which reflects throughout the whole
chapter: the idea of Worship and the guiding influence of the Spirit. If we
wish to spend our after life with Him in eternity, we need to start
preparing our lives while living our limited life here on Earth. It can be seen
in verse 4, “I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from
all my fears.” We can understand how after all the trouble that the Psalmist
has been through, he relied onto the Lord, sought Him and finally got delivered
from all the unnecessary fears. The merciful Lord welcomed even the poor
man, who no one on this Earth wanted to acknowledge, graciously. All of his
troubles vanished, when he called out to the Lord (Verse 6). The Holy Spirit is
an awesome wonder as He is our helper, mediator, comforter and counselor. When
we find ourselves in any kind of trouble, we often start to believe there is no
hope left to resolve our issues. We need to change that thought process. When
we constantly thank God and rely on Him for what He has done for us, the Holy
Spirit resides in us forever and guides us in the paths of righteousness.
PRAYER
Oh Lord, when we are in moments
of distress, guide us, when we are weary, energize us. Give to us all Your
mercies and blessings so that we can live a life void of worry. Amen.
