26. Help me, O Lord my God! Save
me according to your steadfast love. 27 Let them know that this is your hand;
you, O Lord have done it.
As Christians, we may face many challenges in life. We seem to
be cumbered with trials and temptations, and we are even sometimes mocked for
trying to show our Christian faith. It may seem hard to stand out as a
Christian in this sinful world. This passage is a very humble prayer from David
to the Father for strength as he faces his enemies. David says he is “poor and needy”,
and he is weak and frail. We are all like David. We are weak and worthless
in comparison to our all-powerful, knowing and mighty God.
Verse 27 says, “Let them know that it is your hand, that you, Lord, have done it.” This verse explains how our enemies must know that it is God that gives them their punishment. Though we are weak and sinful, God is powerful, and he will bring down those who curse and accuse us. Instead of hating and trying to get vengeance on our enemies, it is important that we humble ourselves and pray to the Lord without ceasing, so that He may grant us the peace, strength and love we need to carry on.
God alone can save us from our enemies and give punishment to the wicked. While there will be people who will ridicule us, or curse us, they are no match for the wrath of God! Psalms 91:4 says, “He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge.” This is proof that God is a loving God. He loves all of his children, and those who do not believe will be put to shame. Verse 31 says “For He stands at the right hand of the needy to save their lives from those who would condemn them." God will save us from the hand of our enemies, and give punishment to the wicked.

So friends, instead of hating our enemies, let's pray to God to give us the strength to overcome our fears and doubts. God is powerful, almighty, and full of love and mercy. He loves us, and will surely bless us when we come and ask him to help us through difficult times.
