Proclamation of Good News

14 Is anything too wonderful for the Lord?

God is good to those who serve him. Though we serve him well, we are in disbelief of his power and ability to reward us. Most of the time we are in disbelief because His rewards don’t come into fruition in our time or how we imagined it to be. Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is omnipotent and omniscient and with Him, there is nothing in this world we cannot accomplish to serve His ministry.

This passage shows two types of servants in God. Abraham, who in the heat of day, went out of his way to welcome travelers into his tent for rest. Many of us, as Christians, come from all different types of circumstances. However, we try our best to not allow circumstances to hold us back from serving others. How we treat each other and gain understanding of others situations to be a helping hand is an important characteristic to embody as a Christian. The second type of servant we see is in Sarah. Sarah, without questioning Abraham’s willingness to treat visitors, follows Abraham and prepares a meal. She serves strangers the best of what she has without hesitation. It’s often hard to give up our best to others in a culture where material possession defines an individual’s social status. However, God is pleased with those who give their best in His name.

How we serve others is honoring God. Part of our servitude is how willing we are in trusting Him. Many times we serve in order to be rewarded right away. Some of us may not even think twice, like Abraham and Sarah in regards to rewards. However, when God in His time rewards us we must be ready to accept it. Questioning his means and time of the reward often holds us back from being a well-rounded Christian. As important as it is to serve Him through our works and interactions with others, it is also important to always be ready to accept His gifts as our Lord is Almighty.

PRAYER

Dear Lord, we glorify you for the blessings you have showered upon our lives. As we serve others, we pray that we remain humble of how your mighty hand can bring purpose into our lives. Amen.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Everything is possible for our Lord.
