Restoring Christ
“After Job had prayed for his friends, the Lord made him
prosperous again and gave him twice as much as he had before” (Verse 10)
This is one
of the ancient books of the entire Bible. Job was a historical character,
mentioned latter by the book of Ezekiel (14:14-20) and James(5:11). Job
presents a striking example of the news behind the news – of God at work behind
the scenes of human sufferings. After numerous attempts by Job and his friends
to uncover the reasons for his suffering. God himself enters the dialogue with
a majestic description of his power and love. As we study book more deeply,
realize that God may not answer all your questions about suffering; realize too
that God does control Satan, who can go no farther them the Lord allows.
Obedience
is the key to real faith- the unshakable kind of faith so powerfully
illustrated by Job’s life. Job confirmed his obedience with those classic words
of faith: “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in Him”. (13:15). This is the
faith: believing and acting obediently regardless of circumstances or contrary
evidence. Job has been subjected to five fiery trials and has participated in
five painful debates, but now he receives at the hand of God a tenfold
blessing.
He is allowed to see the glory of God; He sees himself as God sees him; He is
vindicated by God before the eyes of his three friends; He discovers the joy of
praying for these three friends; His former health is fully restored; He is
comforted by his brothers and sisters; He is given seven more sons and three
more daughters; He is given double portion of his former wealth; He lives to
enjoy his grandchildren and great- grandchildren; He is given an additional 140
years. Because he developed an unshakable faith by daily walking with the Lord.
Prayer: - Loving
God, I rededicate my life to you and acknowledge that, nothing can shake those
who are secure in God’s hands.
Thought for
the day: - Human perspective is too narrow to fully understand
God’s ways.
