Healing and Deliverance

“I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you.” (v.5)

This was God’s answer to Hezekiah’s earnest prayer. When Isaiah informed Hezekiah that he will not recover but die (v1) Hezekiah “turned his face to the wall and wept bitterly.”(V.2-3) and God answered; “I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you” (V.5)

Here we see that God who informed Hezekiah that he will not recover and would die, is the same God who is promising him that “I will heal you”. When we continue to read the passage we see Hezekiah asking for a reassuring sign and God delivered that too by moving the shadow 10 step backwards (V.11). This passage reassures that our God hears prayers, and even when we are at the verge of death our God can delivers us.

Just like Hezekiah we all may be in need of God’s deliverance and healing. God used lump of figs to heal Hezekiah. During His ministry on earth Jesus used dirt, spit, touch, commands, rebuke, and faith of others and so on to heal people. God can bring healing in so many different ways, including medical treatments. Whether its physical, mental, spiritual or interpersonal healing, we must come to recognize that we need healing and deliverance in our lives. We must not doubt His power or ability to heal. Hezekiah prayed earnestly and if we lay aside our feelings of doubt, distrust and inadequacies and come to Jesus, He will surely deliver. Just let Him manage our thoughts, stresses and concerns! He knows how to help us, just let Him. He can heal our mind, body and spirit. Just like God reassured Isaiah “Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.” (Isa 35:3-4) even today God has the same loving words of assurance for all of us.

God wants to deliver in our lives, if we are willing to trust Him. He wants to heal us; do we desire to be healed? Don’t be scared, ashamed, doubtful, or insecure…. our God is a merciful God. Let us not rely on our own understanding, rather let us fully trust the Lord; let us acknowledge Him in all our ways so He can make our path straight. If we have faith we will receive whatever we ask in prayer. Our God is willing; are we ready?

Prayer: Merciful Father, thank you for your mercy to us. Father we are in need of healing, please accept us the way we are and deliver. Amen

Thought for the day: God wants to use us in significant ways. Can we perceive God’s presence in our lives and focus on His plan despite our lives’ obstacles?
