The Glory of the Holy Trinity

John 1: 12-18

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. (14)

The Gospel of John is different from all other Gospels. The purpose of writing the Gospel is given in 20:31...'These are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.'
In introducing Jesus, this gospel is not giving the birth narrative, but linking Jesus with the Trinity and saying that Jesus was there in the beginning of creation and remained one with the Creator God.
This particular passage is given in the context of the writer John saying that though Jesus incarnated to be in the world, humankind did not receive him ( vs. 11 ) . So the gospel is emphatic in saying that receiving Jesus in faith is necessary 'to become the children of God ' and 'to have eternal life'

 Jesus reveals the Holy Trinity
The public ministry of Jesus revealed how he was in constant communion with the Father God and the Holy Spirit . Jesus always sought the will of the Heavenly Father. Jesus also taught and revealed the person and function of the Holy Spirit. He breathed the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles. The mutual relationship of the three persons in the Holy Trinity is important.
John the Baptist bore witness to the Holy Trinity. ( Vs 6-8 )
John the Baptist came in history to be the forerunner of Jesus and to make the way for Jesus’ ministry ( vs 15-18 ). It was at the time of Jesus’ baptism that the words of the Father God came as, ‘this is my beloved Son’ and  God the Holy Spirit came like a dove on Jesus. The Holy Trinity became a historical reality.
We are called to have Eternal life.
The reason for the Holy Spirit to reveal through Jesus is to reveal the glory of God and we to abide in that glory (Jn 15 ). The scripture asserts that we are created by Him and we belong to Him. John chapter 17 illustrates this very well. The Holy Trinity wants us to inherit eternal life.

Prayer: Glory be to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning is now and ever shall be, world without end - Amen.
Thought for the Day:  We see the glory of the Holy Trinity to glorify Him.

Live in Truth, Leave the Sin and Love the Spirit
