Passion to the Cross
But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor. (14)
The story begins with the break of dawn where the chief priests and the elders of the people made their plans how to have Jesus executed, however, in Mathew 26:65 is where the real decision to have Jesus executed took place (In the cover of darkness). Since it was illegal for the Jews as per their custom they once again in the morning took the decision to have Him Executed. In Chapter 27 Vs 2 we see that they (Leaders of Israel) bound Jesus and handed him over to Pilate (A Gentile & The Representation of the world power then).
Why this is Important is that on that fateful day – Both Israelites & Gentiles have no excuse in putting Jesus to the Cross.
No one is with an excuse today for turning our backs to Christ, including the Roman Governor Pilate who heard every word that Jesus had to say.
This meditation I want us to draw back to the scene that took place.
We have a set of Israelites who wanted the messiah murdered
We have a Gentile Governor who gave in to what they wanted.
We have a Thief Judas who felt remorse and Hung himself.
We also have a Redeemer who stood silent just like a lamb so that the 1st three could be restored back to God.
The passion that emitted from God the Son was so tangible, that the previous night his sweat was like blood from the intense emotions within him, yet he stood silent so that those who are wrong with God could be set right.
The Israelites knew they were working in the cover of Darkness –Represents (People who willfully sinned) Pilate gave in to the Israelites cries knowing that Jesus was innocent – Represents (People who like to follow the popular trend than the truth) Judas was remorseful & Hung Himself. Represents (People who feel the guilt but decided not to repent and turn back)
Let us just examine our hearts today and see where we stand with God are we committing things that displease the Lord, are we people that are swayed by the things & pressures of this world or are we felling Guilt and think that all is Lost – Then there is Hope and that hope is Found in the Passion both the Father & the Son had for redeeming You, the most precious of His creation.
Prayer : Father it is only against you I sinned, help restore me back to your wonderful presence and flood me with Your Holy Spirit that I may experience the assurance of your salvation – Thank you Lord for your passion for me. Amen.
