Jesus Heals the man with demon
 Mark 5: 1-19

"As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”( Mark 5:18-19 )
Jesus has the power to overcome nature, demons and death.  This passage is about Jesus restoring a demon- possessed man.
Tell others what God has done for you. The people of the region tried to subdue the demon-possessed man but no one ever succeeded.  So, day and night he would wander among the tombs cry out and cut himself with the stones.  However, the demons knew they had no power over Jesus; so when they saw Jesus, they begged not to be tortured or sent out of the area.  Jesus ordered the legion of demons to come out of the man and into the herd of pigs.  Immediately the man was free of the demons and begged to leave with Jesus.  But Jesus replied: “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.”
Identify the demons in our life: In this passage the demons are literal.  However, in today’s times the demons can be bad habits, addictions and sinful behavior.  There are so many people around us including ourselves possessed by the demons of this world.  It is our job as Christians to not give up on those people around us, like the people of the region in the passage.  Those who are struggling, need to be reminded of the power of Jesus and His ability to help us overcome the demons.  If we are looking within ourselves, it is important to understand that these demons use the human body to destroy your relationship with God.  “If we resist the devil and his influences, he will flee from us (James 4:7).”  Once we rely on Christ to free us or others from these demons, it is our Christian responsibility to go out into the world to preach the Good news and to be living examples of the power of Jesus Christ.

Prayer: Heavenly father free us from the demons that possess our lives. Help us to be aware of others’ struggles, and show them the way to Jesus.  Instill in us the desire to tell others of your power to heal and free us from the chains of Satan Amen.
