Theme: Jesus Christ – The Way, The Truth & The Life
Proverbs 4: 10-19
v14 Narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few who find it.
Whether you are good at orientation, or have no sense of direction, chances are you use a Maps app to guide you when you have to go somewhere new. Gone are the days of trial-and-error, verbal route directions, and MapQuest. Using a modern GPS system guarantees that we will never be lost again, and will reach our destination safely.

But what about our eternal destination? Do we know the way to get to Heaven, and can we get there without getting lost? Jesus Christ says ‘I am the WAY to the Father.’ Not ‘a’ way, but ‘the’ way. The only way to Heaven. And just like modern GPS systems, even if you miss a turn, you can quickly be rerouted back onto the right track. He is forgiving and welcoming. When we follow Jesus, we walk on the only path to Heaven, to the Father and to everlasting life. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). When driving, we often have to make several decisions quickly. Shifting lanes, quick reactions, making turns, taking detours, sticking to the speed limit and stopping at signs are just some of the things we do in the driver’s seat. Quick and sharp reaction times, and a thorough knowledge of traffic rules will help us be safer and better drivers.

Similarly, in our life’s journey, we have to take decisions and do what is right. The key for this is sound knowledge of good and evil, and to choose what is expected of us. Jesus promises that He is the TRUTH. By developing a closer walk with Jesus, we can straighten our paths and choose the right thing(s). “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of Wisdom” (Prov 9:10). And as Christians, we can be assured that the destination of our journey is Heaven, and Life Everlasting. Death comes to all who are born; only the timing of it is unknown. But we have a hope beyond our earthly death because Jesus’ death has conquered our death. Jesus says that He is the LIFE: the good shepherd who lays down His life for His sheep (John 10:11). Jesus came to show us the way and truth and lead us to life. When we follow Him, we can be assured of following Him all the way to heaven.
PRAYER
Lord, Thank you that you are the Way, Truth and Life. Thank you for guiding our path, helping us navigate the tough turns and steep roads of this world. Thank you that our destination is not death but life, and life in abundance. Help us to walk with you, and light up our paths today. Amen

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Without the Way there is no going: without the Truth there is no knowing; without the life, there is no living.
